Our friend Mike Phillips suffered a serious injury at Jingle Cross that abruptly ended his racing season. Mike now faces a number of months of recovery during the holiday season. Despite having health insurance he also has to deal with significant medical expenses.
Let’s help Mike get through the next few months by helping to relieve some of the financial burden and let him focus on recovery and enjoying the holidays. Anything that you can contribute will help Mike and his family.
Contributions will be accepted through the end of December 2013.
Thanks for your help and Happy Holidays to you and your family!
Sincere thanks to those who organized and attended this event tonight, I regret that I am not able to attend in person but I appreciate Dana reading this on my behalf.
I don’t need to tell you all what we lost last Thursday and I don’t need to go into detail about how this tragedy has affected me personally because I am sure it affected you in the same way. In the nearly six years that we spent as athlete and sponsor Amy and I also became friends and I always looked forward to the opportunities when our paths would cross and we could meet in person.
Amy’s positive attitude towards such an incredibly difficult sport was infectious and I wanted to try and create more opportunities to share her experience with other cyclists. I’m sad that we won’t have this opportunity now and it will be strange to attend national and international events and not have a chance to cheer for Amy or share a quick hug before she headed off to her next event.
I’ll miss Amy greatly and, while I won’t get a chance to see her trademark smile and share her self-deprecating humor once again, I will always consider myself fortunate to have met her first as a sponsor and lucky to be able to call her a friend.
Thanks to my friend and colleague Dana Carson for reading these words tonight in Boulder. Sincere condolences to Amy’s family and all her friends.
